Medical Premium Increase Delay
1. What are the employee contribution amounts beginning in July 2023?
The employee contribution amounts are published on the HR website in the Coverage Information section.
2. When will my medical contribution increase?
The employee contribution amount will change beginning with the first payrolls in July: July 7, 2023, for those paid on the biweekly payroll and July 14, 2023, for those paid on the semi-monthly payroll.
3. I am a full-time employee. How will my medical premium contribution be determined in July?
The medical premium contribution will be based on your Salary Level as of January 1, 2023, even if you have/had a pay change during the calendar year.
4. Since my contribution amount will increase, can I change medical plans?
Yes, because the employee contribution amount is increasing, you are allowed to change to a lower cost plan effective July 1, 2023; you cannot change to a higher cost plan. For example, you can change from POS A to POS B, but you cannot change from POS B to POS A.
If you would like to change plans, please complete and submit the Service Request found on the RIT Service Center (RSC) portal. Please submit the Service Request no later than Friday, June 23, 2023. Submissions after June 23. 2023 will not be accepted.
5. If I change my medical plan, can I change my contribution to my Beneflex Health Care Spending Account?
No, you are only allowed to change to a lower cost medical plan.
6. Since my contribution amount will increase, can I cancel my coverage?
Yes, because the employee contribution amount is increasing, you are allowed to cancel your coverage if you can demostrate that you are enrolled in other coverage.
Please note: if you cancel coverage, you will not be eligible to re-enroll in RIT coverage until the annual Open Enrollment held in the fall for a January 1, 2024 effective, unless you have a qualifying mid-year event and submit your change request within 31 days of that event.
