About the Artist

Kurt Feuerherm (1925-2019) focused on the abstraction of nature-related subjects. His work was influenced by his lifetime love and understanding of nature and his exposure to varied geographic areas of the world. His paintings reflect his extensive travels in the US, Mexico, Europe and the Caribbean islands.

Kurt lived and taught in Florence, Italy and traveled throughout Tuscany and Europe, developed bodies of work that reflected the images and nuances of different topographies and cultures. He studied with Josef Albers, Stuart Davis, Louis Kahn and Naum Gabo, and earned a M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Arts and Post-Graduate Fellowships at Yale University.

Kurt’s work is in numerous collections including the Museum of Modern Art, Syracuse Everson Gallery, and Rochester Memorial Art Gallery. He was an instructor in painting at RIT, 1953-1954.
