Influenced by icons of value and strength, Erica's work communicates her interest in the reduction of powerful imagery to vacant structures. Many of the forms nod to her experience in the commercial jewelry industry and observations relating to the industrial decline of her hometown. Through the use of traditional fabrication techniques, minimal forms are crafted as intersecting planes or with exposed interiors. The hollowness and skeletal nature of these objects are amplified through the use of monochromatic industrial finishes.
Bello studied metals and jewelry design at the RIT's School for American Crafts where she received her BFA. In 2014, Bello won the Halstead Grant for emerging artists. The grant allowed Erica to pursue a career as a full time studio artist, and the following year she was invited to participate in Sparkle Plenty at Quick Gallery, and Jewelry Edition. Erica currently resides in Baltimore, MD and works out of her studio located in the Station North arts district.
