RIT Students & Alumni attend ShmooCon 2015
January 16-18 RIT Computing Security students, alumni, faculty, staff and Dean Andrew Sears attended ShmooCon 2015 at the Washington Hilton Hotel in Washington DC. ShmooCon is an annual east coast hacker convention offering three days of an interesting atmosphere for demonstrating technology exploitation, inventive software and hardware solutions, and open discussions of critical infosec issues.
Here is what a few RIT students took away from the conference…
"This was my first ShmooCon experience and it couldn't have gone better. I regret not going in the past, but I will surely be there every year in the future. Everything from the trip down to the conference was a fantastic experience. I bonded with old friends, made new ones, and left with a lot of stories that will only be added onto as years go on." “I am a freshman and this was my first trip to ShmooCon. I was amazed at the incredible networking opportunity this conference proved to be, and was so happy to meet so many RIT alumni and learn how well their careers are turning out to be after their time at RIT. The conference had talks on every topic and for people at every level, so as a freshman I had no problem following along. The hacker community is a great one, and I can’t wait to go back next year!” Sarah Jacobus ‘18
