RIT awards transfer credit for courses completed at other regionally accredited colleges and universities only. Transfer credit at the undergraduate level will only be granted for course work completed with a grade of "C" or above. Students can only transfer in credit from coursework completed elsewhere; grades earned at other institutions will not be calculated into a student’s GPA at RIT. There is no limit to the number of credit hours that can be awarded; however, placement of the credit will be based on a student’s program of study. Regardless of the total amount of transfer credit awarded, a minimum of 30 semester credit hours needs to be completed at RIT in order for students to fulfill the residency requirement.
Transfer credit is evaluated by the IGM Undergraduate Coordinator, IGM Academic Advisors, and the College of Liberal Arts. Official transcripts from each accredited college or university previously attended must be sent to the RIT Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
Current IGM students looking to take classes at another accredited college or university are encouraged to have classes pre-approved before enrollment at another institution. Please contact your academic advisor for more information.
