In July 2015 RIT purchased EMS software, an enterprise system that provides a full suite of solutions for comprehensive room scheduling and meeting and event management.
A project implementation team, led by the ITS Project Management Office and the Office of Government and Community Relations and comprised of 60 individuals representing all divisions and colleges on campus, spent 18 months analyzing RIT’s business practices and procedures related to all aspects of room scheduling and event service support. Consolidated and streamlined processes were developed and EMS software was configured to meet the greatest needs of most business units on campus.
RIT Events is the university’s branded name for EMS, which went live in 2017 and now serves as the system of record for all space reservations on campus. It is also utilized by several service providers to provide event support, and the division of Student Affairs to approve all student organization events. The Office of Government and Community Relations administers EMS on behalf of the university.
