Roopnarine (“Roop”) Hazarie's health care expertise spans over eleven years and includes a variety of senior level leadership positions in both acute and ambulatory care operations. Prior to entering the health care field, he enjoyed a 21-year career with Eastman Kodak Company where leadership experience was gained from a variety of senior operations roles spanning across diverse processes, cultures, products and technologies.

Professor Hazarie has over 19 years of direct experience leading Lean Six Sigma process applications to drive higher levels of quality throughout organizations and systems. He received his extensive training from recognized worldwide experts achieving the prestigious Management Black Belt certification and is the Senior Lean-Sigma (Process Improvement) consultant for the Greater Rochester Health Foundation. Mr. Hazarie is currently the Administrator for the Delaware Valley Practice Network at Nemours/Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children.

Mr. Hazarie has served as an adjunct graduate professor at RIT since 2009 teaching in the area of health care quality and the principals of Lean Six Sigma. Roop’s students consistently comment on his timely, in depth feedback. One of his students share that his feedback was “not only praising what I did correctly, but also provided constructive criticism so I could further understand the principles we were learning.”

This course teaches the principles Lean-Sigma and the application of its process improvement methodologies (and tools) in a health care environment. The curriculum examines the current challenges encountered in the healthcare industry and how the application of Lean-Sigma techniques can improve overall performance. A specific focus of the course is to learn the methodology used to obtain desired results of streamlining operations and enhancing administrative effectiveness in the clinical, administrative and service segments of health care.
