Study Abroad

Success in today’s global society requires experience and leadership that drives education beyond traditional boundaries. RIT is committed to expanding opportunities for global education, international connections, work experience and cultural exchanges. Study abroad can fulfill a co-op experience, supporting a student’s desire to study abroad while satisfying graduation requirements. Through 400 programs in 50 countries, RIT Global supports students, faculty and staff interested in an international experience. Options for study abroad include semester, summer, and short-term faculty-led opportunities, among others.

One faculty-led international experience includes the Nutrition and the Mediterranean Diet (NUTR 402) course offered through the Nutrition Management department. This course takes place every other year and provides a study of the Mediterranean Diet and culture through a combination of coursework at RIT and a short-term faculty-led study abroad experience. The focus of this course is on understanding the unique characteristics of the Mediterranean Diet and the effect of adhering to the diet on one’s health. A culminating experience will involve travel to Dubrovnik, Croatia and the surrounding area to see and experience first-hand the principles of the Mediterranean Diet. Lab fee as well as additional cost for study abroad component of the course are required.
