RIT Dining is completely self-operated, and has a wide variety of options, from international cuisine and freshly baked desserts, to allergen-friendly entrees, and chef specials.     Dining locations near the Residence Halls and Perkins Green:

    Gracie's is our largest and only all-you-care-to-eat facility. It is a peanut and tree-nut-free (except coconut) facility. Simply Eats, an allergen-free station, serves gluten-free and vegan entrees daily. It eliminates nine common allergens: milk, egg, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts (except coconut), peanuts, sesame, wheat, and gluten.

    The Commons has one of the best views on campus and serves stone oven pizza, made-to-order salads, fresh-off-the-grill burgers, and subs.

    Dining locations near Global Village, Riverknoll, and University Commons:

    Café and Market at Crossroads serves made-to-order sushi, Asian cuisine, subs, hot sandwiches, pizza, and a daily chef's special.

    Global Village Cantina & Grille houses Salsarita's, a Mexican grill with bowls, burritos, and quesadillas, and a rotating grille that features international cuisines.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    RIT strongly encourages all students to maintain insurance coverage either under a parent/guardian’s home owners insurance or through a separate personal property policy. RIT assumes no responsibility for losses of students’ personal belongings. RIT offers Personal Property Insurance through Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Several different limit and deductible options provide student’s flexibility to select the type and amount of coverage that best serves their needs.     Students requesting to move in early for the Fall semester must complete the Early Arrival form in the mylife portal. Forms will not be available until July.

    • Early arrivals are not guaranteed.
    • There is a $50/day fee for every day prior to your scheduled move in day.
    • If the early arrival is approved the student will receive an email instructing them when they can pick up their keys.

    Students who will be arriving after the scheduled move in dates must notify Housing by calling 585-475-5000 or by submitting a ticket at Students who do not move in by the first day of classes may be considered a no-show and may be charged a No-Show fee.

    The following residence hall buildings are air conditioned: Baker Hall, Gleason Hall, Nathaniel Rochester Hall, Ellingson Hall, Peterson Hall, and Residence Halls A - D. If you are not assigned to one of these buildings, you may want to bring a fan.

    Non-airconditioned apartments include: Perkins Green and Riverknoll. You can submit a maintenance request once checked into your space to have a window unit of your own installed. 

    Residence Halls, Global Village, Perkins Green, and Greek Circle beds are twin extra-longs. University Commons and RIT Inn are full size beds.

    No pets or animals except fish are allowed in RIT housing. Piranhas, Oscars, and other fighting fish are not allowed. A fish tank cannot exceed 10 gallons.

    All of RIT housing has wireless connection. Additionally, all RIT housing, with the exception of Riverknoll apartments, have high-speed ethernet jacks. If you are assigned to Ellingson Hall, Peterson Hall, or Residence Hall D and want to utilize the ethernet jacks, you will need to bring a 15-foot ethernet cable with you.

    RIT allows students to bring one vehicle to campus.

    First year students may only park in lot B on Wiltsie Drive. 

    Please note that students with Residential Permits may not use the academic parking lots on weekdays between 5am – 5pm.  Do not plan on driving to classes.  Due to limited parking capacity on campus, your vehicles must remain in their Residential parking spaces on weekdays between 5am – 5pm.

    All vehicles on campus must be registered with a valid permit. Permit sales begin August 10, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. A residential permit is required for any student living in RIT housing with a vehicle on campus. General permits are available to commuter students. All permits are virtual (no stickers or hangtags) and are only sold on-line. Please register your vehicle at You will need your RIT username and password to log in.     During move-in, temporary parking is available in lots C and K (just outside of the Residence Halls) after unloading.

    First year students with their own vehicle must park in lot B on Wiltsie Drive once they have moved in.  

    Arriving by plane, train, or bus? You may obtain a taxi, Uber, or Lyft to transport you to campus. The fare for the trip to RIT will cost approximately $25. Please ask the driver to use the Lowenthal Drive main entrance. RIT Address: 1 Lomb Memorial Dr, Rochester, NY 14623
