All students living on campus are required to select a Move-In appointment time prior to arriving on campus.

Incoming Students

By appointment only:
  • August 15, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • August 16, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • August 17, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.


Returning Students

By appointment only:
  • August 20, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • August 21, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
  • August 22, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

We have staggered time slots to ensure students and families have adequate time to unload vehicles and transport items to their rooms. The 30 minute time slot is for students to arrive during, we do not expect students to be completely moved in before the end of their appointment time. We will have limited carts on hand that will assist students in unloading vehicles efficiently so that vehicles can be moved to designated parking areas to provide space for students in later time slots. Early arrival requests cannot be accommodated.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement

All RIT students must show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination prior to coming to the Henrietta campus for Fall 2021. Students must log into the RIT Wellness Portal to complete the COVID-19 Vaccine form and upload a photo or scanned copy of their vaccination card or receipt with their name, date of birth, name of the vaccine, and the date(s) of the shots.

Pre-Arrival to Campus

Access your room assignment, roommate information, meal plan, and mailing address under My Assignment in the myLife portal. All move-in information can be found by clicking on the My Move-In icon from the My Assignment page.

*Please print your Move-In Dashboard Pass the night before your arrival and place it on your dashboard for move-in. To find your Move-In Appointment Time, Move-In Dashboard Pass and Luggage Tags follow the steps above to the My Assignment page in the myLife portal and click the My Move-In link.

**If you are assigned to Global Village 405, you have keyless entry. You will receive an email prior to your arrival with instructions on how to download the HID Mobile Access app needed to gain entry to the buildingIf you decide not to use the HID Mobile Access app, visit the Housing office once you arrive on campus to receive a prox card for access. 

Don’t leave home without a photo ID! You must have a photo ID in order to be issued your RIT housing key.


Arrival to Campus

Check-In and Key Pick Up

It is essential to arrive on your selected day and time. You must have a photo ID in order to be issued your RIT housing key. Please have your Move-In Dashboard Pass ready for check-in. 

  • Students will check-in and pick-up their keys in Lot D.
  • RIT Inn students will check-in and pick up their key at the front desk of the RIT Inn.
  • 175 Jefferson students will check-in and pick up their key at the front desk of 175 Jefferson.
  • Global Village 405 students can proceed to their assignment and complete a self-check in. 
  • You will be allowed 2 guests to assist in the drop-off zones and moving into the building.
  • Students do not need to be completely moved in before the end of their appointment time.
  • Carts will be available at the Residence Halls drop zones. 

*If you are assigned to Global Village 405, you must self-check in on the myLife portal and use the HID Mobile Access app to access your space. You will receive an email prior to your arrival with instructions on how to complete both steps.

Late Arrivals 

If you experience travel difficulties on the day of your appointment that impact your ability to arrive during your appointment time and arrive after 6 p.m., Please check in at the RIT Housing office located in Grace Watson Hall. If you arrive after 11 p.m., you will be required to locate alternative housing for the night at a local hotel. 

Arrival Process & Map

Students living in the residence halls, Global Village, and apartments:
Please have your Move-In Dashboard Pass printed and displayed on your dashboard at all times.
  1. Key and ID Pickup: Arrive at RIT via the main entrance off of Jefferson Road on to Lomb Memorial Drive and follow the map below to Lot D. Here, you will check in for Orientation and pick up your Housing key.
  2. Move-In: When you leave Lot D, you will proceed to residence hall drop zones (See drop zone map) or apartment location. Please check your Move-In Dashboard Pass to determine the color of your drop zone. On-campus signage will direct you to the corresponding drop zone to begin your move-in process.

Students living in the RIT Inn, 175 Jefferson, and Global Village 405:

  • RIT Inn assigned students will check in and pick up their key and ID at the front desk of that location.
  • 175 Jefferson assigned students will check in and pick up their key at the front desk of that location.
  • Global Village 405 assigned students can proceed to their assignment. They must self-check in on the myLife portal and use the HID Mobile Access app to access their space.

    RIT strongly encourages all students to maintain insurance coverage either under a parent/guardian’s home owners insurance or through a separate personal property policy. RIT assumes no responsibility for losses of students’ personal belongings. RIT offers Personal Property Insurance through Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Several different limit and deductible options provide student’s flexibility to select the type and amount of coverage that best serves their needs.     The following residence hall buildings are air conditioned: Gleason Hall, Nathaniel Rochester Hall, Ellingson Hall, Peterson Hall, and Residence Hall D. If you are not assigned to one of these buildings, you may want to bring a fan.

    Non-airconditioned apartments include: Perkins Green and Riverknoll

    Residence Halls, Global Village, Perkins Green, and Greek Circle beds are twin extra-longs. University Commons and RIT Inn are full size beds.

    No pets or animals except fish are allowed in RIT housing. Piranhas, Oscars, and other fighting fish are not allowed. A fish tank cannot exceed 10 gallons.

    All of RIT housing has wireless connection. Additionally, all RIT housing, with the exception of Riverknoll apartments, have high-speed ethernet jacks. If you are assigned to Ellingson Hall, Peterson Hall, or Residence Hall D and want to utilize the ethernet jacks, you will need to bring a 15-foot ethernet cable with you.

    RIT allows students to bring one vehicle to campus.

    First year students may only park in lot B on Wiltsie Drive. 

    Please note that students with Residential Permits may not use the academic parking lots on weekdays between 5am – 5pm.  Do not plan on driving to classes.  Due to limited parking capacity on campus, your vehicles must remain in their Residential parking spaces on weekdays between 5am – 5pm.

    All vehicles on campus must be registered with a valid permit. Permit sales begin August 9, 2021. A residential permit is required for any student living in RIT housing with a vehicle on campus. General permits are available to commuter students. All permits are virtual (no stickers or hangtags) and are only sold on-line. Please register your vehicle at You will need your RIT username and password to log in. Once signed in, click on the “My Parking Account” link to register.     During move-in, temporary parking is available in lots C and K (just outside of the Residence Halls) after unloading.

    First year students with their own vehicle must park in lot B on Wiltsie Drive once they have moved in.  

    Arriving by plane, train, or bus? You may obtain a taxi, Uber, or Lyft to transport you to campus. The fare for the trip to RIT will cost approximately $25. Please ask the driver to use the Lowenthal Drive main entrance. RIT Address: 1 Lomb Memorial Dr, Rochester, NY 14623
