Hospitals typically use transponder tags in combination with computer-based supervision systems to track the location of newborns within a facility to ensure newborn security. These systems also provide perimeter control, meaning that exit locations are controlled so that newborns cannot be moved or removed without proper authorization. RIT Multidisciplinary Senior Design (MSD) Team P22055 is designing an active umbilical cord clamp transponder for Divergent Medical Technologies, LLC.
