CyberCorps Scholarship For Service (SFS)

Location

Global Cybersecurity Institute - 2nd Floor

The CyberCorps Scholarship For Service (SFS) program is designed to recruit cybersecurity professionals currently in college by providing full funding for tuition and professional development, in return for pursuing a career in the federal government after graduation. Scholars in the CyberCorps SFS program will be presenting various projects that they’ve been working on throughout the semester with their cohort. These projects consist of a K-12 game to teach students about basic concepts in networking and network security, facial recognition using python, a wifi security project, and a drone project. Facial Recognition using Python: The facial recognition project involves identifying and recognizing faces in a crowded image, and also attempting to pinpoint the location of the image. The project will be entirely programmed in Python and will use open computer vision libraries and deep learning algorithms. K-12 game: We are making a 2D top-down k-12 cybersecurity education game. In this game the player will catch fish, however in order to do so they have to correctly answer phishing (and other cybersecurity related) questions. The player will be able to catch and collect a variety of fish, and use a character of their choice that they will be able to customize to do so. Wifi Security: The SFS WiFi Security demonstration will provide insight into the world of data flying around us 24/7/365. Our devices are exposing more information about us than we'd like, what kind of data are you broadcasting? Come find out at the SFS WiFi Security demonstration.
