Experimental Gameplay

Experimental gameplay, like avant-garde art or experimental film, is about breaking boundaries within a medium to broaden what is possible within games. Examples of experimental gameplay include unique mechanics or play experiences, promoting feelings in players not normally associated with games, interactive storytelling that goes beyond the standard branching narrative, innovative user interfaces, and novel multiplayer interactions. This semester, we explored a number of experimental concepts from idea / high concept to playable prototype within a class dedicated to this exploration, and present those prototypes for public play at Imagine RIT. Other experimental works from outside of the class may also be included in the exhibit.
