A Glimpse into the Glass Studios
Move with the Glass program through its different studios and pause with each graduating student to see what they have been up to for the past year. Ying Chiun Lee will show you how the mold making process for glass replicates the surface of objects. She will capture the intricate detail of a living leaf in a mix of plaster and silica as a way to translate delicate patterns and surfaces into cast glass. Ethan Townsend and Rinoi Imada will then explore the curious behaviors and material phenomena of molten glass within the Hot Shop through spectacularly playful and experimental approaches to working with hot glass. The presentation will conclude with finding Madeline Rile Smith in the Flame Shop behind the torch exploring interesting manipulations of borosilicate glass.
