Interior Design Capstone: Reimaging Transportation

Side-by-side photos of RIT students and activities with the text See How RIT is Advancing the Exceptional underneath.

The thesis question that is trying to be answered is, How can mass transit environments protect the health and safety of passengers, while also benefiting behavioral health? Public transit has a socioeconomic impact on the community. Public transit is a common mode for commute for many people such as essential workers. Many use transit in urban environments for their daily commute to work or school. This is an high touch environment that has a constant flow of traffic throughout the day, and there is minimal thought on new ways to imagine public transit to make this a safer environment overall. Factors of the transportation experience, such as the ticketing, waiting, and boarding zones are being explore and reimagined to design positive experiences for the future.
