Making Technology Accessible to the Elderly

This new era has been created by the efforts of the previous generation. As young people, we were born into the boat of this new age but the ship's builders have struggled to keep up with the technological and cultural changes. As ambitious young people in the new era, we should do something to help the elderly integrate into society. To teach the elderly how to use the advanced technology in this era and how to enjoy the fun it brings to people's daily life. With our own modest efforts to help the elderly into the new era, our project was to help the elderly to use their mobile phones more easily by writing informational articles. We teach the elderly how to shop online, use cameras, download apps, even teach them to adjust system settings and so on. During the winter vacation, we went to the city's nursing home, face to face to teach the elderly to use mobile phones, the needs of the elderly have a more in-depth understanding. After that, we developed a small program to help this population use mobile phones better. We created a tiktok account to provide senior citizens with a detailed introduction to the Android and iOS settings and the meanings of different memes. This way of video and voice explanation will express our teaching intention more intuitively. At the same time, we have also made efforts to prevent internet fraud and internet traps. We studied the relevant research of the People's Public Security University of China and explained the forms and prevention measures of online fraud to the elderly. The goal of our project is that everyone who sees our activities understand that the elderly should be respected and protected. Our research will wake up the younger generations desire to help the previous generations. We have also written articles to express young people's views of the world, so that older generations can understand young people's worldviews. All of this can help narrow the gap between the ages.
