Multi-Disciplinary Robotic Club
Multi-Disciplinary Robotics Club (MDRC) consists of a group of students with a passion for robotics and the advancement of technology. The club offers various projects throughout the year. Many ventures have been a work in progress for multiple years including our infamous couch bot and our Battlebots. These projects not only offer a creative outlet but also allow students the opportunity to work together and gain a more complete understanding of the field of robotics. Some of our current projects are listed below : Upon completion, Catbot will be a functioning robot that utilizes soft robotics and McKibben artificial muscles that allow it to be capable of walking. PacBot is a robot built to navigate a maze in a real-life game of Pac-Man, that competes at Harvard’s PacBot Competition. CouchBot is a full-size drivable couch that has become a staple at RIT. It has been revamped multiple times to utilize the latest in robotic technology. BattleBots are battling robots that compete in stiff competitions throughout the Northeast. at specific weight classes, much like that is used in boxing. University Rover Challenge (URC) utilizes Aerospace robotics and is a multidisciplinary project that collaborates with an outside club to accomplish a functional Rover. BrainBot is one of the most advanced areas in the club. The club is currently working on a ‘Barbie Car’. The car is controlled by processing your brain waves. Think about the direction you need to go and our car will take you there. Your thoughts are primarily driving the car. Brain bot works with multiple branches in the club, supporting collaboration and teamwork within other areas.
