Autonomous Race Car

Exhibit Code: CLK-0120
Zone: RIT Central
Location: George H. Clark Gymnasium (CLK/003) - Clark Gym
Time: All Day
Appropriate for all ages? Yes

Description:
We may not have flying cars yet, but we are certainly moving closer and closer to an artificial intelligence based world, where cars will be driving themselves based on computer algorithms and machine learning. Our team's goal was to re-design an autonomous vehicle platform for RIT's Computer Engineering Department. Students in the Interface Digital Electronics (IDE) class utilize this platform in their final project to learn how to interface and program the car to navigate a track autonomously. The car uses a 2D camera sensor to differentiate between light and dark color, allowing it to steer and readjust itself with respect to the black stripes on the white track. Come watch our car race around the track (and hopefully not crash)!
