About

The Gear Research Seminar has been started at RIT with the intent to establish and strengthen the research and educational activities at RIT, which are related to the gear design, analysis, and manufacturing. The seminars provide an opportunity for three different research groups to update the progress of ongoing gear related projects and collect suggestions and feedbacks to improve the future research. In addition, according to the communication and discussion in the seminar, the expertise rom different domains, e.g. gear design and analysis, manufacturing, lubrication, is complementary to collaborate together to explore new research approaches and potential research topics. Furthermore, the seminar series will expand the national/international networking with various universities and industrial companies and increase the visibility of RIT’s strength in gear research. Finally, this activity will be a good supplement to support the Gleason doctoral fellowship program to create a platform for Gleason doctoral students and other undergraduate/graduate students who are interested in gear research to communicate, interact, and network within and beyond the RIT community. As an ultimate goal, the team is planning to establish routine seminar series to join the research strengths of KGCOE faculty, improve the educational experience of students, and create a research culture about gear technology at RIT.
