The Brinkman Manufacturing Lab offers a number of different services to the RIT community as well as industry leaders. The Brinkman Lab is committed to fulfilling any needs or requests that we are capable of.

Tours - An exciting experience to see the lab floor first hand. The CNC machines will be on display. Tours involve machine demonstrations as well as various displays of machined examples. A brief description of manufacturing processes will also be discussed and demonstrated.
Seminars - A fundamental part of the ISE department is the idea of continuous learning. In order to follow through the Brinkman Lab offers a number of different seminars. The seminars involve industry leaders as well as first hand machining experience. It is also a way for people to become more familar with machining concepts. Seminars are usually offered several times a year.

What to expect: Come see our facility in action. The Brinkman Lab will be demonstrating all the state-of-the art manufacturing technology and current research in our facility. Partners and engineers will be available to answer questions and give tips to help improve your current processes. There will be demonstrations in additive manufacturing, laser marking, swiss turning, multi-spindle (screw machine), metrology, milling, turning, CAM, controller interface and many others! In addition there will be several informational seminars:
- Rapid Manufacturing (RM) – Introduction to RM processes for functional polymer, metal, and ceramic components as well as RM research.Presented by: Dr. Denis Cormier, PhD, Brinkman Professor
- Making the most of your Tool Pre-setter – Lean Manufacturing & Lean Tool Crib How interfaces to CAD and machines can dramatically increase productivity. Presented by: Michael Stepke, Zoller Corp.
- Utilizing the Opti-Rough Toolpath in MasterCAM – increase your programming time and minimize your operations. Presented by: David Moskey, MasterCAM
- Adaptive Controls - reduce the high cost of replacement tools, lost production, and rejected parts by effectively measuring tool wear in real time. Presented by: Robert Caron, PE, President, Caron Engineering
- FSAE Formula Team – get some insight into the car design, competition, and team structure. Presented by: FSAE Formula Team Members, Dr. Alan Nye, PhD, team advisor.
- Tool Geometry – Understand how to fully utilize new tool geometries to maximize your material removal and tool life. Presented by: Patrick Dillon, Ingersoll Cutting Tools
- Turning Aerospace Materials - Optimized Roughing to Finishing in Heat Resistant Super Alloys, Titanium and Stainless Steels. Presented by: Aaron Petrosino, Solutions Leader/App. Specialist
- Multisensor Measurement – Inspection technology presentation. Presented by: Tom Groff, North American Sales Manager, Optical Gauging Products
- Turning hardened steels from 45Rc to 62Rc on conventional turning centers to eliminate or minimize costly grinding operations. Discussions include tooling, edge preparations, CBN content, machine requirements, as well as tips and tricks. Presented by: Tom Sheehy, Manager Applications Engineering, Hardinge Inc.
- Why your next vertical machining center should be a horizontal. Jim Endsley, Okuma.

Training - A "hands on" training course is available to certain individuals wishing to gain experience in the way of CNC machining skills.
Contract Work - The Brinkman lab is highly committed to industry. Our services are extended to the off campus community. Individuals and companies looking to contract the Brinkman Lab to complete projects are encouraged to submit a Job Request through the online form.
