The RIT BS Microelectronic Engineering program was established in 1982 and was the first program of its kind in the world. As a unique program, no separate accreditation standards existed and the program was first reviewed in 1985 using the Electrical Engineering standards. The program accreditation has been renewed using these standards during every evaluation cycle since 1985.
