    High school graduates experience college life in Croatia

    High school graduates from the class of 2022 have taken a leap into higher education through RIT’s inaugural Post-High School Semester in Europe. The program has provided these students the opportunity to spend a semester at RIT’s campus in Dubrovnik, Croatia, taking three classes, conducting research, and enjoying experiential learning trips throughout Croatia and in Rome, Italy.

    Rochester Institute of Technology will host a day of empowering workshops for Latina girls and young women. ¡Soy Unica! ¡Soy Latina! will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 in the RIT Student Alumni Union.

    First graduates from RIT’s partner charter school poised to receive their RIT degrees

    A trio of trailblazing students who came to RIT from the university’s partner charter school will fulfill a long-term promise when they receive their college degrees at commencement this May. Zaid Abdulsalam, Ismael Cortes Jr., and Justice Marbury were among the first students to enroll at Rochester Prep High School, and they were the three students from the first graduating class in 2018 who chose RIT as their destination.

    RIT alumnus named FIRST Robotics Volunteer of the Year for second time

    Larry Lewis ’04 (electrical engineering technology) was honored as this year’s FIRST Robotics Finger Lakes Regional Volunteer of the Year. This is the second time he has been recognized for work with the Penfield High School team, his organization of numerous new FIRST teams across the K-12 spectrum, as well as his inspiring work throughout the pandemic.

    RIT/NTID, The Strong present Deaf Day of Play March 20

    NTID and The Strong have partnered to celebrate Deaf Awareness Month. On Sunday, March 20, students from NTID’s Department of American Sign Language and Interpreting Education will provide ASL assistance at the museum’s admissions desk and its Skyline Climb high adventure course. And ASL tours of the Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden will take place every hour from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    Rochester Prep High School students share their capstone experience

    One highlight of the RIT-Rochester Prep High School Partnership is the annual capstone showcase that spotlights student-professor collaborations. Their diverse projects in photojournalism, antibiotic resistance, 3D printing and fabrication, and chemical engineering gave the students experience on a college campus and the confidence of completing undergraduate-level material.
