Schumer, Gillibrand and Morelle secure $2 million in Omnibus Bill for RIT to upgrade its Semiconductor Fabrication Lab
RIT will receive $2 million from the U.S. Department of Commerce to update and expand its Semiconductor Fabrication Lab to accommodate research in semiconductor technologies and prepare the workforce for the growing domestic microelectronics manufacturing industry. The funding was included as part of the fiscal year 2023 omnibus funding package.

As vice president of Finance and Administration for RIT Dubai, Yammout oversees most of the global campus’s non-academic operations, including facilities, information technology, human resources, and admissions.

Saunders College department chair brings ardor for hospitality and research to RIT
As a teenager growing up, Edwin N. Torres remembers traveling and becoming “fascinated by the possibility of hoteliers transforming a place into an experience.” That curiosity later developed into a passion, which Torres brought to RIT in July when he became chair and associate professor for the Department of International Hospitality and Service Innovation at Saunders College of Business.

ESL Global Cybersecurity Institute pentesters assess messaging app for activists
RIT cybersecurity experts are helping make instant messaging safer for activists in countries controlled by restrictive regimes. Pentesters from RIT’s ESL Global Cybersecurity Institute performed a security assessment of Partisan Telegram, a customized version of the Telegram messaging app. RIT was selected to conduct the assessment by a nonprofit organization that supports global internet freedom.

High school graduates experience college life in Croatia
High school graduates from the class of 2022 have taken a leap into higher education through RIT’s inaugural Post-High School Semester in Europe. The program has provided these students the opportunity to spend a semester at RIT’s campus in Dubrovnik, Croatia, taking three classes, conducting research, and enjoying experiential learning trips throughout Croatia and in Rome, Italy.

RIT Kosovo renames Peace and Conflict Summer Program for humanitarian Fred Cuny
RIT Kosovo recently rechristened its unique and long-running summer program that explores the origin and resolution of armed conflict, reconstruction, and institution building at the end of wars. The Frederick C. Cuny Peace and Conflict Summer Program was renamed in honor of the humanitarian and disaster relief specialist who worked in crises in more than 50 countries.
