David Edborg, patrol major for RIT Public Safety, set a world record at the 2018 World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters (WABDL) World’s Deadlift Competition Nov. 14 in Las Vegas. Representing RIT, he had an opening attempt of 205 kg/451.7 lbs. in the 58-62 age, 198-pound law/fire division (double-ply suit category). He finished second overall in his division and also achieved his 14th New York state record.

patrol major for RIT Public Safety, represented RIT at the World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters Northeast Deadlift Nationals on June 23 in Portland, Maine. He finished first in both the Masters and Law Enforcement 198 pound, 58-62 age class and qualified for the WABDL World’s Deadlift Competition in November in Las Vegas.




David Edborg,

patrol major for RIT Public Safety, represented RIT at the World Cup Invitational Powerlift Competition in Turku, Finland, on Aug. 27, where he broke a personal record of lifting 480 pounds, which is also his seventh New York state record. He finished fourth of 13 in the master division of 56- to 60-year-olds in the law/fire division. Eighteen countries were represented.

patrol major for Public Safety, deadlifted 479.8 pounds at the World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters' U.S. National Championship in Portland, Maine, on June 3. He broke his previous New York state record for lifters in the 57-63 age, 198-pound class for law enforcement and firefighters. He plans to compete in the World Cup of Powerlifting in Turku, Finland, on Aug. 27.

patrol major for Public Safety, broke a state record for deadlifting 469 pounds during the World Association Benchpress and Dead Lift Championships in Las Vegas on Nov. 16. He competed in the 198-pound class of the dead lift competition in the police and law enforcement division for those 56 to 63 years old.

patrol major in the Department of Public Safety, competed in the World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters national competition in Portland, Maine, on May 14. He took first place in two categories, Law Enforcement/Firefighter ages 56-62, and Open Masters, ages 56-60. He broke his previous New York State record with a deadlift of 458 pounds.




David Edborg,

patrol major in RIT’s Public Safety Department, lifted more than 450 pounds, won third place in his class and division and set three New York state records lifting at the drug-free World Bench Press and Deadlift Championships in Las Vegas on Nov. 18.
