Henrietta, N.Y. - RIT is providing meals to those on the front lines of the COVID-19 fight.

RIT Dining is putting together hundreds of meals for the healthcare professionals at Rochester Regional Health. The college says there is a decreased need for meals on campus – and it’s looking to help those fighting the virus.

“I thought, what can we do to help?” said Autumn Geer, RIT Catering’s chef de cuisine. “We have stocked coolers and inventory in the freezer, and the talent on campus.”

“I have a lot of friends in the healthcare field who are risking their lives every day,” she continued. “They don’t have a lot of food available to them when they need it and aren’t eating properly. They often don’t have time to pack a well-balanced meal. So, we’re hoping to do some good and to keep our staff engaged and inspired to know they are doing something good.”

Staff members made their first delivery Monday. They hope to put together 100 meals every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for as long as possible.
