The 22nd Undergraduate Research Symposium is set for Aug. 2.

How coffee drops leave rings when they dry, blood vessel formation related to cancer treatment and mind gamers in school are just some of the diverse presentations scheduled at Rochester Institute of Technology’s Undergraduate Research Symposium, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 2 at the RIT Inn & Conference Center, 5257 W. Henrietta Road, Henrietta.

This is the 22nd year for the symposium, which is free and open to the public. Nearly 160 presentations are planned.

“We look forward to this each year because it showcases research and creative projects undertaken by undergraduates across all areas of research at RIT,” says Mike Dwyer, director of Research Relations at RIT.

Poster viewings will be held between the speakers, lunch and workshop sessions about Biomedical and Life Sciences; Energy and Sustainability; Chemistry and Material Science; Modeling and Simulations; Imaging and Optics; and Social Sciences and Humanities.

Two keynote speakers are expected: Rohit Amarnath ’96, founder and Chief Elastic Ninja of Full 360 Inc. in New York City, and Nicholas Schneider ’10, currently a Ph.D. mechanical engineering candidate at the University of Pennsylvania.

Registration is available at the door.
