Update from the Academic Continuity Team

Provost Ellen Granberg and the Academic Continuity team will keep you informed as we work together over the next few weeks to transition RIT’s courses to alternative delivery modes. Today’s update covers alternate grading options, a survey to get student feedback, and class schedules.

Students, now that your courses have resumed, please fill out the Student Feedback on Course Adjustments survey. University leaders welcome your feedback and comments.

RIT has adopted an alternate grading option that students can elect to take advantage of for the courses they’re enrolled in this semester.

If you have any questions, please contact the RIT call center at 585-475-3500 or 833-323-0002 between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. EDT or email your questions to coronavirusresponse@rit.edu.

Faculty and staff, students have expressed concern about two or more meetings or virtual classes being held at the same time. In response to their concern, please be aware that the existing schedule of classes remains in effect. This means synchronous (live) delivery courses will be delivered at the times they were prior to break. Even if you choose to have asynchronous delivery, bear in mind that students may have pre-scheduled commitments for other classes, just as they did before the break.

University leaders recommend that when attempting to set up new meeting times with students, poll them informally prior to setting up new meeting times and be deferential to those who cannot accommodate new meeting times that might conflict with existing schedules still in place.
