AdvanceRIT Updates
AdvanceRIT has been working hard this semester hosting a variety of workshops and sessions to promote its goal of increasing the representation, retention, and career advancement of women faculty at RIT. As of August 2018, our program has become a unit within the Provost’s office to further align our efforts alongside RIT’s strategic plan. This important investment by RIT supports our cross-university efforts to transform the university towards a more inclusive academic environment. Check out our website which contains our program objectives in support of this goal and much more information. Read about some of our interactive workshops and group sessions offered recently below and be sure to check out our website periodically to discover upcoming events!
We hope everyone finds time over the holiday break to renew and refresh. Here are some suggested resources: Coronavirus Sanity Guide by Ten Percent Happier provides meditations, podcasts, blog posts, and talks to assist with stress, anxiety, and fear and Ten simple rules for women principal investigators during a pandemic (Kreeger, et al, 2020; PLOS Computational Biology).

The AdvanceRIT office has been busy supporting the Office of Faculty Affairs with research and resources for faculty supporting during the pandemic, particularly in areas that impact underrepresented groups where equity concerns arise. We have compiled a set of resources on our website. Presentations have been made to the Dean’s Council and the Council of Chairs about the equity impacts of the pandemic and strategies to mitigate these impacts.
