Sean Forbes

Music has been a part of Sean Forbes's life for as long as he can remember. Born in raised in the Detroit area, Sean grew up in a family that was very involved with the Detroit music scene as musicians, songwriters, and recording engineers. In 2006, while a student at RIT/NTID, Sean co-founded D-PAN, The Deaf Professional Arts Network,  a nonprofit that makes music accessible by creating American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation music videos. Sean has produced ASL music videos for songs by John Mayer, The White Stripes, and Eminem, featuring deaf and hard-of-hearing performers performing songs in ASL that have been viewed by millions on YouTube.

In 2012, after years of writing and performing his own original music, Sean signed a record deal with the same label that discovered and produced Detroit rapper Eminem. He then released his debut album "Perfect Imperfection" that includes a music video with Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin. After the release he spent the next 3 years touring the world performing his songs. In 2016 after a desire to be home more, he founded DPAN.TV, The Sign Language Channel, an internet-based TV channel that creates content in ASL with voiceovers, and captions. Sean married his college sweetheart JoJo, and they are parents of a beautiful little girl.
