American Sign Language and Interpreting Education
Sign language interpreting is a fascinating, challenging and rapidly expanding field that offers an endless variety of opportunities and rich linguistic and cultural experiences. With more than 1,100 Deaf and hard-of-hearing students and 17,000 hearing students on campus, and more than 100 Deaf and hard-of-hearing faculty and staff members, RIT provides you with a unique environment and excellent opportunities to increase your knowledge of cultures and enhance your English, American Sign Language and interpreting skills.
Department of Business Studies
The Business Studies Department provides challenging, high-quality programs designed to give you the skills you need for success in your career. As a student in the Business Studies Department, you will build technical knowledge and skills in your field, and you will have the opportunity to develop the essential “soft skills” that employers demand. You will also learn from a diverse faculty who have a variety of business experience, and have the opportunity to gain your own valuable real-world experience before you graduate by participating in a cooperative work experience.
The Business Studies Department also offers students a competitive advantage in today’s job market by offering courses that prepare students for certification in Microsoft® Office applications software.
Career Exploration Studies
Career Exploration Studies offers you the opportunity to do an intensive career search for an associate degree program while you develop a better understanding of yourself through career and personal counseling and the sampling of various majors. A counselor/academic advisor will work with you to assist you in evaluating information and making a career decision.
Department of Engineering Studies
RIT/NTID's engineering programs combine classroom and laboratory learning in technical areas with a cooperative work experience to give you an exceptional engineering education. Department of Information and Computing Studies
Computers are important to all parts of the economy, and the number of careers that involve work with computers is constantly expanding. As a student in the Information and Computing Studies Department, you'll benefit from a hands-on approach to the design and integration of technology. Depending on the program you choose, you'll learn to maintain computer software and hardware, install and maintain computer networks, and work with a variety of computer applications; or you'll focus on application design and development of mobile platforms. You'll build skills that are in demand, developing the ability to make computer systems, and the people who use them, smarter and more productive. In addition, you'll get an opportunity to complete a cooperative work experience, giving you hands-on experience in your field prior to graduation.
Department of Liberal Studies
The NTID Department of Liberal Studies (DLS) provides opportunities for all students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing to reach their academic potential and become responsible, global citizens and life-long learners. Faculty meet the needs of students through a variety of communication strategies in direct instruction as well as offering a unique approach to educating deaf and hard-of-hearing students in RIT’s College of Liberal Arts (CLA). Instruction is provided in reading, writing and critical thinking, and DLS faculty partner with their CLA colleagues to teach, tutor and advise students in courses and programs in the various departments of the College of Liberal Arts.
Department of Master of Science in Secondary Education
The Master of Science program in Secondary Education of Students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing is designed for deaf, hard-of-hearing and hearing students with a passion for teaching in mind. As an MSSE teacher-candidate, you’ll earn dual certification to teach a secondary school content area for students who are hearing or deaf as well as in deaf education for grades K-12, taught by renowned faculty at one of the most innovative campuses in the world.

The Visual Communications Studies department creates new and exciting opportunities for you to explore visual communication and imaging arts.
