De'VIA: Past, Present, and Future
Williams Gallery

The Dyer Arts Center is hosting a series of events from February 13-15, 2020, focusing on the De'VIA art movement. This series of events will coincide with two major De'VIA-focused exhibitions at the Dyer as well as the closing of the inaugural De'VIA exhibition at Rochester's Memorial Art Gallery. The agenda: 

Thursday, February 13

11 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Presentation by Karen Christie and Nancy Rourke: “ABC Portraits of Deaf Ancestors." In Dyer Arts Center.
3:30-4:45 p.m. Presentation by Nancy Creighton: “Betty G. Miller & Her Work.” In Dyer Arts Center.
6 p.m. Last tour of De’VIA: The Manifesto Comes of Age at the Memorial Art Gallery. Exhibit information.
7:30-9 p.m. Panel discussion with De’VIA artists at the MAG. More information forthcoming.

Friday, February 14

12-1 p.m. ASL Lecture Series: Presentation by David Call. In CSD-1300/1310.
4 p.m. Presentation by De’VIA Challenge Artists. In Dyer Arts Center.
5-7 p.m. Reception for 20/20 and the De’VIA ChallengeExhibitions. In Dyer Arts Center. Free and open to the public!

Saturday, February 15

1-5 p.m. Nancy’s Painting Party. In Dyer Arts Center. Purchase tickets here. $35 for a seat.

Join us as we celebrate the two artists featured in our first exhibit of 2020, Nancy Rourke and David Call! As longtime luminaries of Deaf art, Nancy and David's work will be available for viewing in the Williams Gallery from January 17th to February 22nd, 2020. The reception on February 14th from 5-7 p.m. will offer a chance to meet the artists, see their remarks, and mingle while appreciating the work of two immense talents.

Led by a fun and professional artist, Nancy Rourke. The instruction will be led in American Sign Language. Interpreters have been requested for our non-signing attendees.

$35 per person including 3 hours of instruction, hors d'oeuvres, and all the materials you will need!
