The NTID Development Office will be hosting a fundraiser for the Jennifer Van Atta Hayes Memorial Endowed Scholarship at the Dyer Arts Center on Thursday, October 15th from 6pm to 9pm. The scholarship was established in 2014 in memory of staff interpreter and alumna, Jennifer Van Atta Hayes, a top sign language interpreter who dedicated her career to facilitating communication access for deaf students at RIT and in the Rochester community. Jennifer was an RIT staff interpreter for fifteen years who lived with cancer the last seven years of her life. Her journey ended last year at the age of 44. Jennifer loved to travel and provided support for RIT/NTID study abroad experiences, and this endowed scholarship will continue her legacy. Jennifer’s daughter, Alexandra Hayes Rossiter, is the curator of the photo exhibit of Jennifer’s travels and RIT/NTID student travels. This event will also feature a silent auction, light refreshments, and musical entertainment. A brief program commemorating Jennifer will begin at 6:15p.m. Entrance to the opening party is free. Donations to the scholarship fund are deeply appreciated. See more at: https://www.rit.edu/gcr/brickcity/events/show/663
