Mary Beth (Barber) Mothersell
Born in Vermont and raised in New York, Mary Beth Mothersell is Sprint Relay’s Senior Customer Relations Manager supporting New York, New Hampshire and West Virginia. Mary Beth has over 18 years of experience working with Sprint. She graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology, National Technical Institute for the Deaf (RIT/NTID) with a Bachelor’s degree and earned a Master’s degree in Social Work from Syracuse University, where she was awarded a Master’s Prize.
Mary Beth is a Licensed Master Social Worker in the state of New York. In 2006, Mary Beth was recognized by the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) as the Community Person of the Year. In 2008, she received a national Advocacy “Focus on People” award from Octicon, one of the largest hearing aid manufacturers in the world, for her efforts as the New York Relay Customer Relations Manager. She was nominated by the Southside Hearing Center, who called Mary Beth, “a selfless advocate for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community.” Mary Beth is a proud member of the National Association of the Deaf and was a Member at Large of the NTID Alumni Association 1993 – 1998.
Mary Beth is a former Miss Deaf America and is an actress who has appeared in several television shows. She is a member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and Actor’s Equity Association (AEA). Mary Beth is married to Jeffrey Mothersell, also a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology. They are the proud parents of Jessica Marlo, a graduate of SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelor of Science in Education…and Trevor Lawrence, a 3rd year Industrial Engineering major continuing the family tradition at RIT.
