A paper co-authored by P.A. Mudgett, J.J. DeCaro, Y. Liu, and G. Bao titled, "Tertiary Deaf Education in China: Self-Contained Colleges in Mainstream Universities" was presented at Sint-Michielsgestel, Netherlands. The conference (New Developments Related to Educational Support Services and Cochlear Implants) was attended by participants from six EU countries and the USA. The paper was co-presented to conference participants by P.A. Mudgett-DeCaro and J.J. DeCaro on 15 July (approximately 30 people attended the session).
On 15 July, PEN-International director, James J. DeCaro, moderated the conferences closing - a plenary panel session titled, "The Future." Four plenary speakers responded to several provocative questions posed by DeCaro - the questions were derived from participant discussions during the four-day conference.
