On 15 March 2003, Professor Jerome Cushman and Sam Sepah offered a workshop at the Northeast Metro Regional Meeting of the Haiku Society of America in New York City. The invited workshop/presentation introduced participates to ASL in the haiku art form. Further, Sam and Jerome described PEN-International's role in fostering the development of haiku poetry in American Sign Language and Japanese Sign Language.
