Between 27 June and 4 July, the Center on Deafness at Bauman Moscow State Technical University exhibited a full-scale model of the PEN-International multimedia laboratory at Invatech-2003 (an exposition of special technologies and design for people with disabilities). The display won a prize for innovation in the use of instructional technology for teaching students who are deaf and hard of hearing. The model has been dismantled and will be installed at School #22 in Moscow (a school for the deaf that is a feeder program for Bauman). The installation, which is an extension of the PEN program in Moscow, will be officially opened at School #22 on 15 August 2003. The dedication ceremonies will be attended by Moscow's Mayor Luzhkov since the laboratory is being funded by Moscow City Government in an effort to improve the education of its deaf and hard-of-hearing pupils.
