On 4 November 2004, Dr. T. Alan Hurwitz, Dr. James J. DeCaro, and Professor E. William Clymer visited with the Honorable Andras Simonyi, Hungarian Ambassador to the USA. The visit was undertaken in order to explore the establishment of scholarships for deaf Hungarians to attend NTID at the graduate level and prepare for leadership positions in business, industry, government, or education in Hungary. Ambassador Simonyi, Dr. Hurwitz, and Dr. DeCaro agreed to the following plan of action:

  • By 16 November 2004, an action plan will be prepared by DeCaro and Clymer and submitted to the Ambassador and Dr. Hurwitz for review
    • The plan will contain tasks, timelines and expected outcomes
    • The plan will also detail those responsible for executing each task
  • The Ambassador and Dr. Hurwitz will review and critique the plan, and send recommended edits to DeCaro and Clymer (end of November)
  • The plan will be finalized and implemented (7 December)
