DeCaro Visits Chairman Sasakawa
On 21 November, Director DeCaro of PEN-International visited with Chairman Sasakawa of The Nippon Foundation to provide him with an annual progress report. In addition, Mr. Sasakawa was briefed on the following PEN activities and outcomes:
- RIT's Campaign for the Future and The Nippon Foundation's contribution to the campaign
- PEN-China progress to date
- PEPNet-Japan's Seminar 2006
- 2006 Summer Leadership Institute in England
- PAC Rim Haiku Festival in Japan (April 2007)
DeCaro presented Mr. Sasakawa a piece of art work that was designed and produced by RIT student Jeremy Quiroga. Jeremy was one of the four deaf students from the USA to attended the 2006 Summer Leadership Institute in England. Jeremy prepared the piece as a thank you to The Nippon Foundation from all Summer Institute students, faculty and staff, and from Dr. Hurwitz and PEN-International.
