DeCaro Attends Opening of Asia-Pacific Sign Linguistics Research and Training Program
The Asia-Pacific Program was formally initiated on 6 March at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The program is funded by The Nippon Foundation of Japan. Director DeCaro was an invited guest at the opening representing PEN-International which has consulted with the CUHK Center for Sing Linguistics and Deaf Studies as regards the application of technology to the documenting of sign languages. Currently, there is a cadre of participants in the Asia-Pacific Program who are deaf from Indonesia and a cadre from Sri Lanka.
