In 2009, 500 copies of Communication Skills Program for Deaf Students were published and distributed to 127 educational institutions in Korea by the Korea Employment Agency for the Disabled (KEAD). The book was based on curriculum information and communication strategies developed at NTID by Dr. Sidney Barefoot of the NTID Speech and Language Department. Its successful publication is one of several initiatives undertaken recently by KEAD to improve the educational circumstances of deaf men and women in Korea. PEN Director James J. DeCaro says the book "represents what is possible through meaningful international cooperation."
