On Thursday, April 10th 2008, Mr. John Panara, a professor in NTID's Department of Liberal Studies, presented a two-hour teleconference with approximately ten participants- primarily instructors who teach English to deaf and hard of hearing students- at the College of St. Benilde, Manila, Philippines. The topic of his workshop was “Addressing the Writing Needs of Deaf Students at Different English Proficiency Levels”, where he discussed the strategies used by NTID English faculty for teaching writing to deaf and hard of hearing NTID students at lower and higher English proficiency levels. There was also a lengthy open question-and-answer period, in which John candidly answered participants' questions regarding English instruction with deaf postsecondary students. Attached are the powerpoint presentation, several supporting documents and photos.
