On 5 December 2006, Dr. Kavin gave an hour-long presentation on PEN-International to hearing undergraduate students enrolled in a class taught by Lisa Johnston, titled "Current Trends in Deaf-Related Fields" at the University of Rochester, Rochester, New York. This course is under the department of American Sign Language Studies which is directed by Ted Supalla. The students have various goals upon graduation from the program which include theater, becoming a psychologist working with deaf clients, and sign language interpreting.
