In February 2009, a delegation of 12 individuals from PEPNet-Japan, led by Dr. Mayumi Shirasawa, Associate Professor of N-TUT and Director of PEPNet-Japan, visited several institutions through-out the United States, including a one-day visit to NTID and PEN-International. During their visit to PEN, the delegation learned how to best support medical school students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The delegation also participated in several workshops and presentations related to counseling and access services currently provided at NTID. In addition, the delegation went on a tour and received an overview of the RIT Student Health Center and the NTID Spoken Language Learning and Practice Lab.
