On 3 February 2010, a delegation of 11 professional interpreters and support service coordinators from N-TUT, both deaf and hearing, visited NTID as part of a multi-stop visit to the United States to learn more about support services available for postsecondary deaf students. The group, led by Dr. Mayumi Shirasawa, toured NTID and attended a three-hour workshop related to interpreting services at NTID. The workshop was organized by Steven Nelson, Director of Access Services, and presented by Wayne Kip Webster, Manager, SCB/CAST/GCCIS Interpreting team and senior interpreters Gayle Macias and Kathleen Darroch. The visitors were provided with in-depth information and criteria on how to properly and accurately assess interpreting skills.
