Overview

Test Targets is a collection of scholarly papers contributed by faculty, students, and alumni of Rochester Institute of Technology. It is a collaborative effort exploring the use of scientific method for color imaging and process control. The content is a result of student teamwork to publish a technical journal for a graduate-level course titled: Advance Color Management. Offered by the School of Print Media (SPM) at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), the course is “a platform to experiment and to realize a new digital imaging paradigm and the dynamics of teamwork” (Robert Chung, Gravure Research Professor). The newest edition of Test Targets features the use of spot colors and their various uses. Articles describe studies on how to predict overprinted spot color results based on ink print sequence as well as the print differences found when changing the print sequence of black. A brief description of test forms used to determine neutrality, total area coverage, color characterization, is also included. The Gallery of Visual Interest section of the publication further explores spot colors by experimenting with red, green and blue spot inks in pictorial color image reproduction. This section also goes into detail about the elaborate images found on the cover and designing using the MetalFX system, the silver, offset, ink technology featured throughout the book. Published by RIT School of Print Media, Rochester, NY, November 2008 Please note that half the profits from the sale of this product are donated to the RIT School of Print Media Scholarship Fund.
