- This minor is closed to students majoring in computer engineering, computer science, computing and information technologies, computing security, game design and development, human-centered computing, new media interactive development, software engineering, or web and mobile computing.
- Posting of the minor on the student's academic transcript requires a minimum GPA of 2.0 in the minor.

The game design minor is intended for non-computing majors who want to experience the process and underpinnings of world design and game interaction studies, but are just beginning to explore the technology required to produce computational interactivity. The minor consists of five courses; the first four are required and the fifth course may be chosen from a pre-determined list of electives. Prerequisites may apply, but there are no prerequisites required to begin the sequence, although general familiarity with computing is assumed.
