ClearCove, a 2014 Venture Creations graduate, and now a leading wastewater-energy and resource recovery company, announced it is making significant progress on its flagship wastewater treatment project with Dairy Farmers of America.
The project broke ground the end of 2016 and is part of an investment in a cheddar cheese processing plant in the upstate New York area. The plant is a joint venture between DFA, Arla—a European dairy cooperative— and eight local farmers. At full capacity, the plant will produce roughly 15 million pounds of cheese annually and create up to 30 new jobs.
ClearCove's CEO, Greg Westbrook, an RIT alum, was quoted: "This first-of-its-kind project represents a significant sustainability milestone in the dairy industry. ClearCove's superior solids removal technology will enable the plant to achieve net zero energy consumption through anaerobic digestion. Moreover, it means the plant can process up to 230,000 gallons per day of clean water for support of the wastewater treatment operation alongside agricultural reuse, which includes drinking water for the cows and field irrigation."
