Every year, the Center for Campus Life provides many different pre-orientation programs to incoming RIT undergraduate students. These programs allow students to start their college career early while also learning about campus resources and connecting with faculty and staff. DiscoveRIT helps acclimate new students to college life through fun projects and activities that encourage them to be more involved and engaged throughout their college career.


June 1, 2017 - Online registration for DiscoveRIT programs begins

July 17, 2017 - Registration for DiscoveRIT programs closes

August 19, 2017 - DiscoveRIT participants move into their assigned residence hall for the year and programs begin

August 22, 2017 - DiscoveRIT programs run through the afternoon and New Student Orientation begins with check-in

August 23, 2017 - Family Orientation for families who wish to stay overnight in Rochester

August 28, 2017 - Fall 2017 classes begin

With hands-on activities, theoretical pondering, professional networking and even a little improv comedy, we’ll help you start your RIT experience with an innovative edge.

Participants in this session will receive:

  • Introduction to innovative thinking
  • Interaction with RIT staff, faculty and peers related to innovation and entrepreneurship
  • Introduction to local alum who has taken creativity to the professional level
  • Comfort finding and using RIT's maker space
  • Introduction to clubs and classes related to innovation, regardless of major
