RIT Behind the Bricks

If you’re an RIT student, employee, or faculty member looking for a space to work on prototypes for a personal or academic project, look no further. The Construct at RIT provides access machinery and materials to bring your ideas to life for free or at low cost. By visiting the Construct you’ll get access to specialized equipment including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC mills and more.

The Construct is located in the fourth floor of Institute Hall (building 73) room 4190, down a small hallway next to the south elevator. It’s easy to find if you know what you’re looking for. I learned that right away. Not only does The Construct have machinery for personal or academic projects, it also provides you with helpful staff and classes to help you succeed.

The Construct Hours:

  • Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m.-9 p.m.
  • Friday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Saturday: Closed
  • Sunday: 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

*The lab may be open at other times by users with swipe access, so please check the camera on their website (hack.rit.edu) before you head over.
