Careers in Consulting
Are you considering a career in consulting? Consulting offers a dynamic and rewarding professional path with opportunities to make an impact across industries. Join us for this session to uncover the ins- and outs- of consulting, including strategies for success and insights into both the obvious and unexpected career paths. Discover the range of consulting clients—commercial, not-for-profit, and government—along with the variety of consulting firms in the field. Gain an understanding of the critical role that proposals and contracts play in a consultant’s work. Participate in a hands-on activity that will enable you to create your own criteria for critically evaluating roles and career opportunities in the consulting field. This session will be led by an expert with over 20 years of consulting experience.

Wine for Normies
Inspired by the podcast and book, Wine for Normal People, this class will break down wine into a relatable and fun topic, without the stuffiness. Join wine writer and New York Kitchen Beverage Education Manager Maiah Johnson Dunn to learn wine tasting, discussion, and pairing through a curated flight of three wines donated by New York Kitchen. No question is off limits so come prepared with everything you’ve wanted to know. You'll leave with newfound confidence as a wine consumer and perhaps discover a new favorite NY wine!

Thriving as an International Scholar - Abroad and in the U.S.
This workshop will provide practical tips and strategies for international scholars and professionals, covering topics like funding, visas, healthcare, laws/taxes, as well as cultural adaptation, communication, and cuisine. Through sharing practical tips and tricks, as well as personal anecdotes, we hope to encourage you to seek out meaningful international experiences.

Navigating identity in STEM: Thinking through challenges & opportunities
As STEM fields become more diverse, it is essential to understand how our identities—such as race, gender, socioeconomic background, and more—shape experiences in the lab, field, and classroom. Hear from four RIT community members on how their identities have shaped their work lives and the way they approach their science. Facilitators will also highlight strategies for navigating the challenges that arise from being the “only one” in a space or from being misunderstood by superiors and peers.
